Apple has started to roll out Apple Intelligence, so at this meeting we took a look at what is currently available. To benefit from this, you require Macs and iPads with M chips, or the latest iPad mini with A17 chip, iPhone 15 Pro, and all iPhone 16 models.

We looked at summaries in emails and messages. Writing Tools, Image Playground, Siri requests either typed or spoken will now offer to answer more complex questions using ChatGPT. Searches on Safari now show a summary at the top of the displayed results.

Writing tools work in several apps including non-Apple but vary in usefulness. They are good in Mail and Notes where in proofreading the corrections are highlighted and explained but not in Pages or Word. No doubt future updates will sort this out.

The latest update of Mail included with iOS 18.2, not limited to the devices listed above now, by default, shows Inbox Mail sorted into categories. To revert to the more familiar list, click on the 3 dots top right of the Inbox screen and change.
