Dorchester — Sep 10th 2024

There must’ve been something terrifically exciting happening in Dorchester this evening, or perhaps a really good programme on the TV as we only had half our usual number attending. However, that didn’t change the quality of the program.

At last month’s meeting John had asked a question about music streaming and from the replies and the discussion that followed, it was suggested that we have a presentation on that very topic for our September meeting. Trevor stepped up to the plate, as he is an avid user of Apple Music and had already done lots of research before he opted for that particular service. He first of all took us through several of the more popular services (most of which I’ve never heard of!) detailing the quality of downloads, as well as the monthly price for the service. He then took us through how Apple Music works and showed the user interface which was the typical Apple clean, user friendly interface you would expect. This had a big influence on why he chose Apple Music above all the others.

After the break Euan had prepared a presentation detailing the salient points of Apple’s presentation the night before, particularly useful for those of us who had not watched it live. He took us through the new features of the latest Apple Watch, and perhaps more importantly, all of the updates to the new, iPhone 16 and 16 pro. He then went on to explain how the new Apple AI would work on the new phones and iOS18 using some of the graphics from the presentation itself. A very worthwhile effort on Euan‘s part to condense everything the Apple had presented down to everything we needed to know in about 30 minutes..

Thank you Euan and Trevor for entertaining the members in my absence.
Didn’t get back from Sussex until 7.40 but family comes first.
See you all next month.
