David M showed us the various features of the Find my App built in to all Apple devices including how to share location with others, track items e.g. Wallet and umbrella using AirTags as well as devices, all dependent on being connected to the same Apple ID. We had a discussion about whether putting an AirTag in hold luggage are acceptable to airlines, and concluded best to check if planning such a journey.

Mick then showed how to reduce the size of images, with the caveat that Mail App has a built in option to choose size. However in the Pages App or similar document, whilst you can make the image visually smaller by dragging a corner in, this does not change the size of the file itself. To do that on a Mac use the Preview App and the Tools drop down menu and Adjust Size. If using an image from the Photos app, first export to a file, typically the desktop onto which you can also drag photos from the Photos App.

David M then showed that a similar process is possible on IOS devices, Exporting a photo from Photos App to a file, in the example he used On My iPad. Accessing that photo in Files, press on image icon to bring up a menu and chose Quick Actions followed by Convert Image giving a choice of file formats, choosing any then gives the choice of size.

Finally we looked briefly at the safe procedures for downloading app, using the App Store as a preference and compulsory in the case of IOS/iPad OS.

Excellent warm minces pies, just sufficient the 20 members attending, with applause for the carrier brought the end of formal proceedings.
