Salisbury — Sep 27th 2022

This meeting was devoted to reviews of some of the new hardware and software recently introduced. David Moon listed the similarities and differences between the numerous iPhones now available and also described the latest additions to the range of Apple Watches. The cameras on the latest iPhone models can now rival professional equipment in their standard of photography.

Euan Williams, with the aid of some detailed graphics and short video clips, explained how the range of silicon chips (the various versions of the M1 and M2) have an unrivalled performance to power consumption ratio. In the space of a few years, there has been a thirty-fold improvement in etching ability and we are now probably at the limit of what can be achieved with current knowledge and the materials available.

Euan also showed a video demonstrating the functionalities that Apple hoped to introduce with Stage Manager and Barry showed the current beta version of this on a MacBook screen.

The meeting was attended by 8 members and also by 2 guests who came along having seen a notice on social media.
