Bournemouth — Nov 16th 2021
David demonstrated LiveText, where text from the camera or any photo can be copied as text (using in-built OCR) to be pasted or sent anywhere. Text can also be translated into, or from, a variety of languages.
Other new features described included: SharePlay (now working), FaceTime effects and screen-sharing, Authenticator (for two factor authentication), Shared With You (that collects received media into appropriate apps) and iCloud+ features (Mick clarified that iCloud+ is any set of iCloud features for which you pay a subscription). Even more features of more specialist interest were also covered.
iPadOS 15 includes a more intuitive way of managing split screens and SlideOver (floating windows). This was much easier to understand when demonstrated than when read about.
The meeting closed with Mick urging members to watch the bulletin for the status of the next Bournemouth meeting given that Tony Still has now completed his notice period and resigned from the co-ordinator job.
