So we asked Mick to explain things.
He first explained the use of passwords after helping some people having trouble out theirs.
He then explained the principles of Apple ID and password usually “password pairs” that is your username most likely to be your e-mail address with a password of your choosing.
Passwords are usually 8 characters using a mixture of letters and numbers, should not be a combination that can easily identify you, such as children’s or pet’s names.
The most important is your Apple ID and Admin password they are created when setting up the Mac; they should never be forgotten and must be securely recorded, it will allow you access to your Mac and will give control access to all other passwords.
The Apple ID is used when you want to buy items from the AppStore and iTunes.
All our passwords can be found in Keychain Access, this is where you will need your Admin password before it can be opened.
He also discussed user names and passwords and usernames with regard to the I.S.P settings that sets up your router this are usually printed somewhere on the router and the usernames and passwords connected to incoming and outgoing with your e-mails.
If you keep a written record of your passwords make sure you also note what the password relates to.
He mentioned that Apple also has an added security with two-factor authentification that provides extra security.
After the break there was a general discussion and help session.
