We went a little geeky this month, with sessions on running "other" Operating Systems on your Mac and a session on using your Mac when you're a Radio Ham. Interspersed of course with Coffee and Donuts to keep us going!

We kicked off with general chat and discussions including chatting about Broadband providers and the relative speeds we were all achieving. Martin Spenceley followed this, with both an interesting and inspiring talk on running other Operating Systems, on your Mac. This ranged from old Mac OS 6.x through to OS9.x, alongside running Linux and Windows. A very interesting and at times humorous session. Well done Martin!

After a short break over Coffee and Donuts, whilst trying to solve the problems of the world, we moved onto our Radio Ham session. This was Tony Robert's "Secret" hobby and it turned out we had another Ham Radio fan in the audience as well!

Tony showed us how you would use a hand held transceiver to connect to internet relay points around the world and demonstrated software which allowed you to listen in to these conversations. I can't remember the name of the software, but I'm sure he will post the name here at some time, or even drop him a line for more information.

We were also intrigued to see him using mobile Internet, utilizing the "3" network through a USB dongle on a pay as you go tariff, which interested a lot of us! Thanks to Tony for a very informative talk.

The meeting was rounded off with a short chat before we all dispersed into the sunshine. See you all next time.

Mac OS 6? I took you back to System Software 2.0 (circa 1987) and Mac Paint :-)

Martin didn't show us OS 6 running, but he did mention you could run it in emulation...
