A very lively meeting where Annie gave us a splendid demo of an really useful OCR (Optical Character Recognition) application and how she is able to make a good use of it to help her work Annie is now using one of the latest - PDF OCR X = and put it through its paces for us where she explained how it can be used to word search a PDF file or convert to a text file to read search and make some alterations and save as a copy
All you have to do is open the app. the select a file to perform the OCR operation and drag it into the applications window or directly on the icon of the application
Then showing us how to get a scan of a signature using the iSight camera that can be dropped into a form after converting the PDF
There are two downloads to the application for single pages (Community Edition) that is free, or if you need to work of several pages in a batch there is an (Enterprise Edition) for $29.99 (approx. £18.99)

Mick showed how to use Digital colour maker to select a coloured background in a PDF

Afterwards there was a general discussion until the meeting closed

Suggestion for next meeting several members will show us what Utilities there are and what they are for also the ones not to touch
