This month we were treated to a very entertaining demo by Brian. We're used to the high tech world of Apple but in contrast, and I hope he won't mind me describing his gadget this way, Brian had gone very low tech to produce a turntable to hold his camera to produce a 360deg video. This was made from a 1.5v motor purchased from Maplins and bits & pieces found in his shed, namely, a block of wood to hold it all, a sanding disc from an electric drill to act as the turntable itself, rubber bands to provide the tension holding the motor to the sanding disc and a small switch.

Brian demonstrated this device in action. The camera was placed on top of the disc, set to video mode and the switch pressed. The motor whirred into life and the camera started its rotation, filming the assembled multitude! OK, it was pretty dark in our meeting room but the camera coped pretty well. We tried following it round with a torch but that wasn't 100% successful as you'll see if you look at the resulting clip by clicking here.

Excellent, thank you. A link to a picture of this "Gadget" would be appreciated, or instructions on how to make it.

Hee hee - I'll leave that to Brian - I'm sure he'll see this soon.

Thank you Mick, I will have a go when I return from my holiday.

This simple little "Gadget" could prove quite useful.

All thanks should go to Brian - his gadget, idea and photo - I'm merely the messenger.

Just been to look at the vid! Wonderful - we could do with a view like that of each of the WAMUG meetings.
