Fareham — Nov 26th 2011
The topic this week was the production of slide shows from Aperture.
Derek introduced the topic by describing how many years ago 35mm colour slides were projected using two or more projectors onto screens with the slide changes being synchronised with the sound track. .
For the demo he took a set of photos that he had taken at a recording of part of Pablo Naruda’s poem “Sky Stones” The poem was read in Spanish and then in English.
He showed how title text was added to the first and last image files using Photoshop that was called from Aperture. The text was suitably “enhanced” with text manipulation features of Photoshop. The sound file was dragged from the iTunes repository to the the slide show within Aperture.
The images were then synchronised to the sound file and a movie file exported from Aperture. The files can then be uploaded to YouTube for distribution.
Derek then introduced a book, Focus on Apple Aperture by Corey Hilz, that he had recently reviewed for a web site. The book was used to help answer a few Aperture questions that were raised by the members.
Freewheeling discussion in an ordered manner then took over!
Leading on from the demo there was some questions on the use the Vault feature of Aperture which then led on to discuss the ever present need for maintaining backups of all files.
A brief description of the facilities at the school was described and the need for the members to be guided through the location process to set up the correct IP addresses at the first meeting
I hope to see you at Portchester Community School on January 28th 2012.
