John opened the meeting, which was attended by 14 members.

Lionel gave a lively presentation on iTunes, which was a helpful introduction to the newcomer, and a welcome reminder to the more experienced, of the various facilities which were available to users of this established Macintosh favourite. We covered the videos and podcasts available through the iTunes shop, the Visualiser, playlists, and smart playlists, how to use iTunes tracks with iPhoto and iMovie… Read more…

We had a good attendance for the May meeting plus several "really sorry to miss this one" emails. Lots of people wanted to hear Dot's talk on genealogy. Those that attended were not disappointed! Dot is clearly no amateur when it comes to tracing family history and it showed in the level of detail she'd managed to uncover. She also used her experience to warn us of the many resources that are now… Read more…

A very good audience of 15 plus a visitor from Reading, and a most excellent presentation from Bob Campbell of onOne Software. Bob showed how many different actions , which would be complicated and/or time consuming in Photoshop, such as masking out a hairline agagainst a sky background, or, even more impresive, a net, such as a bride's veil, which could be masked whilst retaining the finest detail of the net. These plug-ins are also… Read more…

John opened the meeting, with 14 members present.

Mark provided a demonstration of iWeb, which he introduced by showing us some examples of websites which he had created. IWeb offers a variety of styles and templates to start with, and it is possible to set up an eye-catching site with no knowledge of HTML. As one would expect, there are good links to material produced using Apple's other iLife programmes, and good… Read more…

Two excellent presentation from our members at todays meeting, where time seemed to fly by... and the halls wireless internet connection worked first time! Easy internet access for us all.

We started off with a general chat about email, the various problems and potential security risks such as Google mail keeping copies of all emails sent, which generated quite a lot of discussion. Derek Wright then gave the first presentation on using Apple's… Read more…

We covered quite a lot of ground this month. The first part of the meeting was taken up with connecting us all to the internet. The school's access has to go through a proxy server so we had to learn how to use this instead of the normal "straight through" we're used to at home. Now of course, we could enter these details each time we're at the meeting then delete them when… Read more…

Not the highest of numbers, but a cracking good meeting nevertheless. Starting with a masterly trot around iLife 09 under the guidance of Chris from Solutions, we saw the new features of iPhoto and iMovie, and took a briefer look at Garageband and iWeb. All very interesting and easy to use.
After a pause for a quick cuppa, we had a short question and answer session, then people showed their pet applications or short… Read more…

There was a good attendance at this meeting - 20 people, including two new members, so the meeting started with mutual introductions. John then introduced the first speaker - himself, and proceeded to demonstrate the capabilities of Photoshop Elements 6, which does much of what the Adobe Photoshop can do, but in a more user friendly way, and at a fraction of the price. We saw how photographs and graphics can be manipulated and edited, and how… Read more…

The last meeting (for the foreseeable future) at Lytchett Matravers had a first hand talk on the antics and goings on in Apple's App Store. Then a demonstration of a latest version of an iPhone App (called Tasty) preceded a general 'free for all' and impromptu series of little presentations (including some useful tips on managing your songs in iTunes) by other members.

Meeting numbers were once again fairly low (11), though two… Read more…

Even though we had three or four regulars missing this month, we still had a pretty good attendance including Peter who has yet to buy his first ever computer (so won't be reading this!) Naturally, we were explaining why he'd be mad to buy anything other than a Mac.

Our Q&A session brought up among other things an ongoing problem with a dial-up modem which we'll try to fix "… Read more…
