The meeting at Solutions was quite well attended - a dozen people came to hear the three presentations.
The first was from Mick Burrell. In his usual clear and easily understandable stye Mick explained different routes to creating a web site and then of putting it onto the internet. As for creating, for a basic, simple site, iWeb is perfectly adequate. For a more ambitious production programs such as Freeway and RapidWeaver allow a…

Only five people at the meeting this month.
Andy Banks introduced us to Swift Publisher - a DTP package that he uses to produce a monthly newsletter/magazine on one of his other interests.
He selected Swift Publisher as it gave good page layout control and was priced very reasonably.
Some notable attributes of the product are very competent text flow across columns and pages and around images.

We started off with the usual question and answer session and most of this centred around early experiences of iCloud but then Brian gave us an excellent presentation on iMovie. He showed us how to take a series of still photos but moving the subject slightly in each one and then stringing them together to make a short animated movie. We had 7 members attending. Andy Banks opened the meeting and introduced Alan Clemmy who gave an excellent talk on his experiences with Apple's iMovie application.
Alan started to use iMovie when he got his first movie camera. He went on to show us some of the work his school has produced when 60 to 70 students and staff produced a movie to show case their work to the end of year assembly…

Lionel began the meeting with a short Q & A session followed by a brief explanation of Dropbox and its uses. This was a little curtailed by a small problem with the wi-fi connection not allowing a demonstration.
However this was forgotten when Mick gave an interesting demonstration of the use of Smart Folders, Smart Albums in iPhoto and Smart Playlists in iTunes. It was shown how these can automate the sorting…

John opened the meeting with 19 members present.
Mick talked about Smart folders in finder, and in three Apple applications.
The first example was Mail, in which smart mailboxes keeps a copy, or rather a pointer to the original message. This is similar to Rules, but can process sent mail as well. (It is worth noting that this limitation in Rules can be worked around…
